Adventure BMG

deutsch english русский

The ADVENTURE begins with Jesus. At a certain point in his life, Jesus allowed himself to be baptized and decided to stop working as a carpenter, as he had been trained. As we follow Jesus we cannot expect life to run smoothly without any complications.

Abandoning security, accepting risk

Adventure means giving up security and going down some new paths. Adventure might mean accepting some discomfort and seeking out challenges. Our history with God started with the biblical story of Abraham and Sarah, our “parents in the faith.” They followed God’s call and left their former life behind. They set out on a long journey. They did not know where or how it would end, but starting off, trusting in God

Different Challenges

The challenges of faith vary. One person’s faith might lead him or her to change old habits. Another’s faith might lend the courage to stand up for others and speak out against unfair policies at work. Yet another person might feel called to go out of her or his way to be kind to strangers, even if only to offer an encouraging smile or word.

Service Abroad

Ever more young people decide to go abroad for a certain amount of time to do good works. Christliche Dienste (CD), or “Christian Service,” is a Mennonite organization that for more than 25 years has sent young people all over the world. Every year, CD sends approximately 80 volunteers to various projects worldwide.

Even people who have finished their studies or are in the middle of a career sometimes make a decision to serve. The help people in need and witness for God in other cultures. The Deutsche Mennonitische Missionskomitee (DMMK), or “German Mennonite Mission Committee,” and the Mennonitische Hilfswerk (MH), or “Mennonite Humanitarian Service,” support several such individuals in various countries.

God says: I will bless you so that you will be a blessing.
