Global Connections BMG

deutsch english русский

Christians around the world are bound together through their faith and form together a GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP. They are not united in one single institution. But they are all children of one heavenly parent, they believe in one saviour, Jesus Christ, and trust in the Holy Spirit. It is a shame – a disgrace, even – that this unity is so seldom visible. Christians even go to war against each other and take away each other’s resources. Many of the world’s problems could be solved if Christians were more deeply aware that they form a great fellowship together.

Mennonite World Conference

Mennonites want to demonstrate at least a small sign of this world-wide unity. For this reason, Mennonite World Conference was founded, of which Berlin Mennonite Church is also a member. In all, 1.6 million people from around the world belong in this way to one big family.

Connections in Germany

The Berlin Mennonite congregation is not only connected internationally. We belong with 14 other north German congregations to the Vereinigung der Deutschen Mennonitengemeinden (VDM). Many of these congregations are spread out far from each other, such as Berlin and Krefeld, while others are quite close, such as Berlin and Hamburg. As a result, we can see each other quite often. The VDM congregations support each other in their work locally, share a common youth ministry, and together support the Berlin Mennonite Peace Center.

Moreover, the Berlin Mennonite congregation belongs, via the VDM, to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mennonitischer Gemeinden in Deutschland (AMG). Through the AMG, some forty congregations from accross Germany work together. Although all AMG congregations are located in Germany, they represent diverse traditions and cultures. It is therefore important to us that all decisions are made unanimously, on a consensus basis.
